Job Description
Hurricane Express is seeking an experienced Customer Account Manager to support and grow Strategic National Accounts within our Transportation Department. This role is ideal for candidates with over-the-road (OTR) trucking experience who understand freight operations, customer service expectations, and dispatch coordination.
The Customer Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for assigned customers and works closely with Dispatch and Operations to ensure service excellence, contract compliance, and account growth.
Responsibilities
· Manage Strategic National Accounts critical to the growth of Hurricane Express
· Serve as the single point of contact for assigned customer accounts
· Grow existing accounts and complete RFPs for new business opportunities
· Monitor service performance and ensure alignment with customer expectations
· Communicate weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates to internal and external stakeholders
· Ensure freight volumes are tendered according to contract terms
· Identify and coordinate opportunities for additional business
· Develop and manage action plans to improve service performance
· Resolve freight issues including OS&D, late deliveries, and driver or equipment problems
· Communicate shipping instructions and service requirements between customers and internal teams
· Provide customers with shipment status, equipment availability, and service updates
· Enter and manage load information in dispatch software
· Track drivers and loads to ensure on-time pickup and delivery
· Ensure all freight movements comply with HOS and DOT regulations
· Work closely with Dispatch to reduce service failures, fines, and late fees
· Maximize accessorial revenue (TONU, detention, layover) when applicable
· Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage
· Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule & Work Expectations
· Onsite position
· Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, shift times may differ based on business needs.
· Salaried role — employee is expected to complete all daily responsibilities before leaving
· Must resolve time-sensitive issues daily and provide after-hours teams with necessary instructions
Required Qualifications
· Transportation experience in over-the-road (OTR) trucking required
· Strong understanding of freight operations, dispatch, and customer service
· Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
· Proficient with transportation or dispatch software (TMS)
· Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, drivers, and internal teams
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
