Alerus was founded as the Bank of Grand Forks in 1879, one of the first chartered in the Dakota Territory. Alerus expanded beyond our headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1985. We have continued to expand into new markets and add additional products and services to best serve our clients.
In 2000, we changed our name to Alerus Financial to reflect the evolution from a traditional bank to a diversified financial services company.
