Boddie-Noell Enterprises (BNE) is a hearty competitor in the fast-food business. The company is one of the largest franchise operators of Hardee's, a fast-food chain owned by CKE Restaurants, with about 340 locations in four southeastern states. BNE also operates 10 Moe's Southwest Grill quick-Mex units franchised from FOCUS Brands. In addition, the company has three of its own restaurant concepts, Texas Steakhouse & Saloon, Café Carolina & Bakery, and The Highway Diner. BNE is also involved in real estate development through BNE Land & Development. The family-owned company was started in 1962 by Carleton Noell and his nephews Nick and Mayo Boddie.
