Our story began in 1983, when company founder Dick Fleming opened our very first location in a 50,000-square-foot building along I-95 in Smithfield, North Carolina. Inspired by pottery-style stores he and his wife Jean had discovered during their travels, Dick saw an opportunity to create a unique retail experience that would also complement his hotel business nearby. That first Carolina Pottery location quickly became a popular stop for interstate travelers—and today, it's grown to over 100,000 square feet!
