Description Coen Oil is a family business that opened in 1923 in Washington, PA with one location in the city selling gasoline to area motorists, and, relying on a strategy of personal service and selling quality products, the business expanded from retail to commercial fuel distribution which continues to grow.
From that one facility opening over 90 years ago, the family business has become a “family conglomerate” with several divisions employing almost 700 team members throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. In the last 5 years, Coen has doubled its business.
Coen Markets is one of the divisions that has taken off in the past few years. There are now over 60 locations throughout Western PA, Ohio, and West Virginia. Coen Markets has three basic c-store formats: *Full Foodservice (~4500+ sq foot, drive thru, full foodservice kitchen where it prepares made-in-store food items with a focus on coffee, breakfast, crispy chicken/jojos, and snacks), multiple gas pumps, selectively separate diesel island) *Extended Grab & Go (~2500-3500 sq foot offering our “café menu” of select food items, and otherwise a traditional c-store inside offer, and gas/diesel on the forecourt) *Basic Grab & Go (~1500-2500 sq foot, traditional c-store inside offer, and gas/diesel on the forecourt).
The Company expects to continue to grow through new store openings (according to its Full Foodservice prototype) and selectively through acquisition. Additionally, the Company will maximize the effectiveness of its other store formats.
Two other divisions include Coen Tire, a well-known regional retail tire business. Coen Tire in Washington, PA has long stood for quality tire products with superior service for area motorists. Lastly, there is Thomaston Land which has nearly 40 commercial properties, many of which are used for the Coen Markets business.
