Fay School nurtures each child’s potential through a broad, balanced, and challenging program that establishes the foundation for a meaningful life.
Founded in 1866, Fay serves 475 students in Kindergarten through grade nine on a 66-acre campus in Southborough, Massachusetts, 25 miles west of Boston. Fay School was the first junior boarding school in the United States, and today 150 of Fay’s students are boarders in grades 7-9 who hail from more than 20 countries and from across the United States. Fay is also home to the Early Learning Center, which serves children ages 2.9 - 5 years.
Fay’s core values of academic excellence, honorable conduct, dedicated service, earnest effort, and wellness of mind, body, and spirit are the foundation of its broad and challenging program that empowers students to discover their talents, develop their intellectual abilities, establish essential academic skills and knowledge, and define their moral character. One highlight of Fay's academic program is the Creativity and Design curriculum, which is integrated across the grades and engages students in real-world design projects in partnership with companies including Converse, Mazda, Bose, and Barnes and Noble. Fay’s signature program, Vox Inventum, is infused into classes across the grades and disciplines, and it is woven into the fabric of daily life at Fay; it fosters public speaking and presentation skills, supports the development of self-advocacy and organizational skills, and emphasizes effort, civility, and kindness.
Working at Fay means joining a community of students, faculty, staff, and administrators of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences who enjoy working and learning together. Our job titles do not reflect all that we do. As an independent day and boarding school with students from Kindergarten through grade nine and an Early Learning Center with children as young as 2.9 years, Fay offers many opportunities to grow professionally and personally as teachers, coaches, mentors, leaders, and contributors to our community.
Each new member of faculty is assigned a Teacher Mentor who is a source of guidance and information during the first year of teaching at Fay. Mentors reach out to new faculty before the opening of the new school year to help answer any questions.
