Healogics, the nation’s leading provider of advanced wound care services, as part of their 2022 Healing Can’t Wait program, is promoting awareness of heart health and its impact to wound healing through their seventh annual Heart Health Awareness campaign. The American Heart Association aims to reduce amputations 20% by 2030. It’s a mission that Healogics is proud to share. People living with diabetes, heart disease or peripheral artery disease (PAD) are at an even greater risk for health complications that stem from an untreated wound, in fact: One in four people living with diabetes will experience a diabetic foot ulcer. For those living with heart disease, 82 percent of leg amputations that occur, are due to poor circulation in the affected limb. A quarter of people with advanced PAD may require an amputation within one year due to a nonhealing wound. These conditions may lead to blockages that obstruct the flow of blood, hindering the delivery of oxygen and nutrition needed for proper wound healing, impeding the healing process. ...Show more
