Hovione is the US home of Hovione FarmaCiencia, an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) maker based in Portugal. APIs are used by pharmaceutical companies to develop new drugs. Hovione serves as its parent's US base and technology transfer center (TTC) where products made at its parent are stored, packaged, and re-distributed. The TTC is integrated into its parent company's global network so it's able to offer customers real-time data and regulatory support for production at the manufacturing plants. The site also has a research lab and a facility where smaller quantities of APIs are developed and shipped to customers before larger batches are ordered from the company's facilities in Europe and Asia.
