Pitzer College isn't big on liberal arts degree jokes. One of seven colleges in the Claremont University Consortium, the liberal arts institution emphasizes "social justice, intercultural understanding, and environmental sensitivity." It offers bachelor's degrees in more than 40 fields of study, in addition to majors offered at other Claremont schools and special majors developed by students with input from faculty advisors. Pitzer, which prides itself for its commitment to ethnic diversity on campus, enrolls approximately 1,000 students annually. More than half of them study abroad during their matriculation at the school. Pitzer was founded in 1963.
