Anchored in Seattle, WA SSA Marine has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. Founded by Fred R. Smith in 1949 as Bellingham Stevedoring Company, we began our first cargo handling operations in a small corner of Washington State. Driven by a pioneering spirit, our family-owned company sought opportunities to expand terminal operations up and down the West Coast. As the region transformed into a major international market, we were positioned to serve the increasing demand throughout the Pacific.
