It also develops and markets labeling equipment. Smyth Companies has manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Virginia, and Colorado. Named for its founder Henry Martin Smyth, the company was established in 1877; it took on its current name in 2001. It is majority-owned by Novacap Investissements, a Canadian private equity firm.
