Sonic Solutions provides tools to capture the digital revolution. Its software includes applications for creating digital audio and video titles, recording data files, and backing up information on hard drives. Though its products are used primarily to create CDs and DVDs, Sonic has expanded the capability of its products to include HD DVD formats. The company markets to consumers and professional organizations such as movie studios; it also licenses its technology to third parties that incorporate it into their own products. Dell, HP, Navarre, Ingram Micro, and Digital River together account for more than three-quarters of sales. In 2011 Sonic Solutions was acquired by Rovi for $720 million in cash and stock.
