The Onin Group

Ōnin Staffing, our flagship division, was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1993 by Managing Partner Keith Phillips in borrowed office space, equipped with folding furniture, a phone and Keith’s desire to provide for his young family. Through the 1990s, the business grew under the name InStaff Personnel as Keith brought in other partners, including The Ōnin Group’s Managing Partner Hugh Thomas. As InStaff grew from 1 to 35 offices in the 1990s, Hugh drove growth in Alabama and Mississippi while Keith focused on Texas and Arizona. The relationship between Hugh and Keith flourished as Keith’s Texas partners began to move in other directions. In 1999 Keith sold his share of InStaff Texas and retained eight offices with Hugh in the South. Today, Ōnin Staffing is the largest owner-operated U.S. staffing company with well over 100 offices.

The Ōnin Group has continued to enjoy impressive yet responsible growth as a debt-free company. We have built our business organically by empowering our staff through our award-winning culture and developing strong long-term client relationships.
