As with most companies, 1-800 CONTACTS would love to promote all of our associates if we could. We have a culture of meritocracy and are pleased that 5 of our top contributors in the IT organization have been promoted within the last month. When the business needs align with the high performance of our talented contributors, we're always pleased to see these promotions happen.

Pros

Good benefits. Company cares about its employees. Subsidized meals. Most co-workers are nice and intelligent. They encourage training and other factors to help further your career.

Cons

There is a lack of communication between departments. It gets pretty hard to do your job when other departments do not understand what it is you do, and even after explaining to multiple people multiple times, push back keep happening. There are also a high level of ego's.

Communication between departments and between all levels of Associates at 1-800 CONTACTS is vital to our mission of making the buying experience as easy as possible for our customers. We are currently holding focus groups as well as sponsoring cross department projects to help departments not only understand what other departments do, but also help them achieve their departmental missions. We strive to understand the details of each Associate's situation and department and actively encourage them to reach out to their designated HR Business Partner to discuss the specifics of the challenges they may encounter. That way we can work together to implement the correct solutions. 1-800 CONTACTS appreciates all feedback and opinions.

Liked the location, free drinks free rolls

After working almost 3 years for this company and having fan mail (unsolicited compliments from customers ) each month, being relied upon to be a team leader and cheerleader, receiving many awards, and giving my heart and soul to the belief that this company was the best to work for ... Was fired without notice for supposedly avoiding calls. This consisted if starting to dial out while I checked my calendar to see if there was a follow up customer I should be calling at that time. I have since spoken to the legal department and human resources and my firing has supposedly been changed to a quit. How ridiculous and irresponsible to throw away a great employee without looking at the entire picture? In my opinion, it was the team leader that should be getting written up ... they are supposedly "there to help you succeed". I have 2 letters of recommendation from my previous managers and I received the directors award the month before I was escorted out of the building. I will never again recommend or be a cheerleader for this shortsighted company.
