Pros

-This is not applicable to all stores and is Manager dependent: -Great schedules. -There is always work that needs to be done. -Ability to meet and engage with many different customers. -Great opportunities to climb up and become an ASL (Assistant Store Leader)

Cons

-HR and Asset Protection does not know how to do much except If you steal, we will fire you (Which is a no-brainer). How do these people even get this position when I study at university and HR requires levels upon layers of investment and research? - If you have a lousy manager, you can quickly call this job the worst retail experience where you have NO LIFE. It is all about 7 eleven 24/7 - Field consultants do too little to reprimand the managers for their mis-behaviors. - Asset protection cares more about how much employees have a potential of stealing (Which granted is high because of the next point I will make), instead of looking at all the case reports you to make every day detailing shoplifters to grab and run away with items worth $200. Every 5 hours. - Free Fountain, Slurpee, and Hot beverages (Non-proprietary). This is wonderful. Except these won't help your hunger. When working 8-hour long shift and dealing with: Stocking, Serving customers, Cleaning floor, Listening to your manager's complains, doing the ordering, and then thinking how to have your life after 8 hours worth of shift, you get hungry. No discounts for you. Screw off. - Most stores in Alberta, Canada, are run by specific ethnicity. Very few English speaking people. It is frustrating when you try to speak to the customer and offer them 7-rewards, only for them to glance at you and ask you: What are these people saying because they speak in Tagalog or Panjabi, or Amharic. - From the previous point: Managers often say: "Team, ENGLISH ONLY," and yet this is broken three seconds after. -Disgraceful benefits package. Conveniently offered to some while if you are a full-time working for over five years, you still have not received it. Talk to the manager about it? Sorry, I don't have time right now. - When do managers have time? Why is their paperwork that is supposed to take only 2 hours at most, taking full 9 hours? Hello, how about helping your SSA or CSA, or CSSA on the till when you have ten customers in line? Oh right, you are a manager. What about other staff then? Oh, they are from your country so you conveniently told them to do stocking and they pay 0 attention to till. And yet, only you will get reprimanded because you failed to change food! -Foodservice. Too much is avoided and dodged. Improper usage of utensils. Incorrect usage of gloves. An inappropriate measure of temperature. Inadequate cleaning of CCC shams and Hot food cases, and roller grills. How are some customers not suing? - Write-offs, write-offs, and more write-offs. If you have them too high, then you are in trouble. Too low, and you are in trouble. 0 and you are in trouble. But you have to make a lot of food for presentation, no? It is excellent to be told and ORDERED to make a LOT OF FOOD instead of say, six chicken kebobs, 2 of each flavor (Honey garlic, Spicy, Sweet chili). But no. You must make 20! Throw them out after allotted time: 2 hours, and you are in trouble. Hello? Sale associate? Why are you throwing that out? Why are write-offs so high? (Because you, dear manager, forecasted like an imbecile). - Company level: Team Canada has no idea how to invest. They do not understand that Core features such as Leaks, Lightning, fixture, and walls are FIRST in priority of being fixed instead of spending $200,000 on CCC shams and new roller grills. -A company that does not understand it is a Convenience store with Foodservice, instead of a Fast Food Restaurant with Convenience items. -If you are a student, you can screw yourself. Your salary will get raised very slowly. After five years of working, It still feels like I started working in 2012 with the base salary of a part-timer when I worked 3 - 4 days. Paychecks are abysmal. - As a part-time only job and a STRICT schedule, this is a great workplace. As a full-time? FIND ANOTHER PLACE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY until they know what they are doing and develop HR and proper -Most of what you earn will not be even enough to cover rent.
