Pros

The pay is higher than other places in the area. The work is not hard, when there is work to do.

Cons

There are so many, I do not know where to start. There is no appreciation for the work that is done. Many people almost live there, and actually care about their jobs, but there is no reward for those people. After time, the long hours are almost expected and when you do not work them, you are chastised and management tried to guilt you into staying and working the hours. The company can barely provide enough work to keep you going for 8 hours, but when we are caught "standing around" we are disciplined, even though there is no work to be done. There is no longer any type of job security, as every employee that works in the Cadillac facility, yes this includes all of the salary employees as well, have been told they are on a month to month basis. This means the company has no idea what amount of work is going to be required on a monthly basis and it is the employees who suffer. Employees who have over 40 years now have to worry about having a job at the end of every month. A company that had nearly 800 employees just 4 years ago, now has a mere 60-70. Many of whom are laid off at the end of the month and then called back a month later, as this is a loop hole to not have to pay insurance. The employees that are called back each month are put on mandatory overtime, regardless of the amount of work, whether it be small or large, and are basically made to run the work out as soon as possible so they can be laid off faster. The company understands the economics of our community and know how hard it is to find a job that will pay as well or just plain find a job. They use this to their advantage, and it is truly disgusting. They will be closing their doors soon and moving the whole operation to North Carolina shortly. I actually feel ashamed to say that I work for this company!
