      Pros

      Good pay, solid benefits, and generous resources.

      Cons

      AARP is a mismanaged organization. It has a gotcha culture. Boundaries are not set and when they do exist are rarely enforced. Culture is pervasive with bullying and trying to kill programs that are successful. There are more internal politics than there are on the hill. Regular harassment occurs and HR shams those that report it.

      The job could be so good. Great benefits, work/life balance and important mission.

      Cons

      Lay offs / reorganization constantly. Never know why or what will happen to your job. Lots of office politics and senior leadership play into the drama (many have been there too long). Organization lacks focus

      Pros

      The benefits and salary are very competitive. Professional development is ingrained in the culture. There are tons of resources. The work/life balance is very good.

      Cons

      Your experience is dictated by your supervisor. All the great benefits and salary will not make your experience less painful if you have a poor supervisor. The organization says they are champions of innovation, but their actions are antiquated because of the bureaucracy. Executive leadership is also not a fan of flexible work options and telework/telecommute policies, even though the org has documented policies for such.
