Pros

Excellent pay. Excellent Benefits (for Full-Time Employees/Nothing for others)

Cons

Petty turf wars within Management produce a cult-like atmosphere. The Middle Management seem to be interested only in self-preservation and self-promotion. The environment is, at best, stifling and at worst bully laden. It is amusing to watch seemingly mature Managers' selfishly collect their own band of loyalists as they wage internal turf wars upon each other. AARP is a cult like organization who want the world to recognize them as the authority on aging. Sadly, the primary interest is in what is good, not for the aging, but for the good of AARP's revenue flow. They are a necessary barrier for companies who have legitimate products and services due to the size of their Membership, but they will waste enormous amounts of those companies' time insisting that they kiss the AARP Ring.

Pros

AARP has a pension and is mission based.

Cons

It’s very difficult to implement change, almost 75% of hires are from the outside, and the brightest bulbs are often covered by duller lights. Hard work isn’t rewarded. They will suck you dry if you let them.
