Pros

The people are AARP's best asset. Also, the benefits are very good. One of a few employers that still provides a pension after 5 years of service.

Cons

Very risk adverse organization. Also, very driven by research and metrics leaving little for "entrepreneurial" thoughts/ideas. Also, organization is very bureaucratic. Hard to get things "out-the-door" quickly.

Pros

Social mission organization, excellent benefits, good managers, good worker protections, work/life balance minded, reasonable opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Compensation could be better, management is too large, tendency to create silos.
