Pros

•Somewhat competitive wages •Chance for yearly pay raise •Opportunity to work with great kids if you’re lucky

Cons

•Very inconsistent experience across the board. Some supervisors are great and on top of their clients cases while others will go weeks without adding programs. Possibility of loosing hours at any moment. As is part of the industry, your entire work schedule is based on a families availability to get their child to services. Had some clients who were always consistent and others who cancelled often or were always late. Sometimes got cancelled on at the door, or on my way to session, with no compensation. Sometimes they offer you the opportunity to go drive to the office and work on materials, but they pay you at minimum wage, not your actual pay rate, which feels illegal. Some clients are a pleasure to work with and will give you no problems while others will have you sweating to keep up with them. Again that’s common in this industry, however those who work with more difficult clients don’t get paid more for the extra work. Thankfully this wasn’t my first experience working in ABA because there was no in person training when I did it. They offered you the chance to shadow people’s sessions to get an idea, but that makes that person essentially have to train them for no compensation. The BI’s are a constant revolving door, most people don’t stay longer than 3-6 months.
