Pros

I was lucky enough to with a team where there was support for my learning and experiences in the company. In addition, you can get to work on some exciting projects and I saw to this when I was involved in numerous large client projects. I was also impressed with diversity throughout team.

Cons

Communication within my team for my position is the reason why this rating receives 2 stars. I transferred internally into this Assistant Project Manager position and a number of things were agreed before I started but was not actioned on. First, and big one, includes pay. Staggeringly, before I made my internal transfer to this position, I was told I would be receiving an increase in my pay to account for the regional difference and the position level I was in - this never happened over the 8 months I worked in this role. If anything, AECOM elongated this process and made more excuses for this than actions. Furthermore, if you want to earn the market rate for an Assistant Project Manager, AECOM will not offer that - check the Salaries section. Secondly, the work life balance became unhealthy for someone in my position. Whilst there is a team of people available to support you, they are not always around to help you when you need it most and this role became stressful with no distinct communication strategies. Other side notes are that my team were heavily hierarchically influenced, meaning junior, graduate or assistant PM's such as myself could not input effectively into projects and we would no longer be owners of our own ideas.
