Pros

Flexibility!! They allow you to come and go as you please as long as you are completing your work. Which makes it easy to schedule doctors appt. etc. Working from home. If you are not scheduled on field assignment you have the ability to work from home which is nice.

Cons

It is nearly impossible to advance in this company!! You have employees with 5-10 yrs experience still completing entry level grunt work. This is unheard of in any other company I have ever worked for in the past. They talk a big game when it comes to H&S but then management goes and ask you to complete outrageous and unsafe tasks. With the exception of a few management doesn't respect the staff or clearly explain the task at hand. They are always changing your schedules up until the last minute and act like it is no big deal. Additionally, they wait to the last minute to review reports and then expect you to stay late to finish their revisions.

Pros

Opportunity to work on sophisticated projects with extremely talented individuals.

Cons

Transition issues resulting from the acquisition of URS continue.... seemingly duplicative paperwork requests, territorial employees, and unclear P&Ps.

Pros

Good benefits and salary for our location. Flexible work hours. Can take off time in a family emergency. Good training at the beginning. The majority of the people I work with are friendly, smart, and respectful of each other. Good office management. Corporate AECOM ignores us for the most part. AECOM is a good company.

Cons

Some history first: I was hired before the my company was acquired by AECOM and now I am legacy AECOM after the URS merger, even though we are still AECOM. For a while, my office was fantastic. Great staff, great training and flexible hours and then I survived the 2012-2013 laid offs. Our office is larger now from that time, but must be close to 100% billable and shareholder interest matter more than any long term growth plan. There is too much control on making money for the shareholder. Every year the company Vision &mission statement seems to change. If getting hired by AECOM, argue for the BEST salary possible because there is no to very little bonuses, profit sharing, or even recognition. You can expect 1-3% salary rises a year or maybe 5% if you have a good year. There is no support staff, and the overseas IT support is really annoying. AECOM will keep you as long as your are billable. Except to laid off if you go 3-5 weeks without being 80% billable despite working and making the company money for years! No marketing assistance to get new project in the door. No assistance to diversified. No working between offices because everyone is worry about being billable. Heck you could have projects in your own town that is completed by a different group in AECOM and not even know it. Project managers are blame for everything and are excepted to do everything. Set limits because you are encouraged to work for free. After becoming a PM, not very opportunities to advance.
