Pros

Salary and benefits are on par with the industry. Some great technical experts. Safety culture is really strong if that is important to your job.

Cons

So much focus on internal systems that your head will spin. They are all unnecessary roadblocks to successful client service, but are likely the pet project of some executive so we all have to comply. This company can't get out if it's own way and things are getting worse all the time. No support, loads of silly requirements. No client focus.

Pros

I do and did not see a benefit to working there. Some people were very good to work with and for, some not like everywhere, but the system is bad.

Cons

1. Cash holdings are based upon not paying invoices or expenses for 1-2 months at the end of every quarter. 2. Very unethical where all employees up to managers are told to bill to jobs they did not work on to keep overhead down - including office moves. 3. Poor benefits and no bonus structure outside of officers (up to URS talks). 4. Engineers are asked to work for free to make up for bad management - to keep overhead and losses down. 5. Project assignment estimate time was required to be done on your own time or be charged to another job or assignment. 6. Poor IT support for equipment - very rinky-dink for a huge company. 7. Project Managers were regularly told to lie to vendors for unpaid invoices. 8. Employee qualifications are regularly falsified such as office support people and technicians being listed as engineers. 9. Human resources had no Idea I was even leaving the day before I left - I was in the system receiving email for another 3 weeks after I left. 10. No exit interviews are standard. 11. Very bad raises. Many more, I have collected a backup of fraudulent activity.

Pros

There are good hard-working dedicated competent people in the organization who really care about their clients and each other. Unfortunately there aren't as many as there used to be, and the level of commitment to clients appears to drop the higher you go in the organization . The pay and benefits are good, if you can stay fully billable on profitable projects.

Cons

The company talks a good game about company values and the importance of integrity, employees, clients, quality, etc. However, revenue and utilization are all that really matters. The company does not care about clients other than getting the bills paid as soon as possible. Employees are sucked dry when there is billable work, and then immediately fired and given 30 minutes to leave when the workload drops. It is unhealthy to watch as every other Friday 2 or 3 more people are suddenly let go. If you have any dignity and aren't physically starving stay away, AECOM is not worth it. I loved my job for over 20 years, then I watched as an organization that I loved was destroyed and people that I respected and cared for were discarded. I have a new position, and I love it. There is life after AECOM.
