      Pros

      Heritage companies were fantastic Stable employment Good benefits and vacation Good work-life balance most of the time

      Cons

      The organization and opportunities are completely muddled. We may win some very interesting and big projects, but it really doesn't matter unless they are operated out of your office. Management wants stafff to work on billable work out of the office; otherwise, they don't get "credit" for your billability.

      Pros

      Large company=large projects which tend to be more complex and interesting to work on The size of the company provides significant experienced engineering staff to draw on for support, someone somewhere has dealt with vitrually every issue you might encounter.

      Cons

      A lack of adequate corporate emphasis of focus on clients. Lack of emphasis on its employees. Too much emphasis on financial performance.

      Global company with significant opportunities for advancement if you're an engineer

      Pros

      Offices all over the world, great experience if you're an engineer regardless of discipline, recently reorganized into one giant global entity, leadership is extremely bright and visionary, particularly at the executive level, benefits are good, diverse projects/initiatives, nice people

      Cons

      A lot of the identity of the smaller companies that were acquired and integrated during the reorganization has been lost, very difficult to demonstrate "stardom" if you're not an engineer or under an executive with significant authority, questionable how much room is left to move up the ladder now that the new organizational structure is in place (not to say difficult or impossible)
