Pros

Good work -life balance Given freedom to carry out your responsibilities Good office environment Friendly people Great activities within office

Cons

Salary is very low Promotion takes a lot of time, as in you get promoted only after getting years an years of experience. Career growth wise this is very bad because it will not keep you motivated.

Pros

Pay is very good, easily the best in among the local firms. Benefits are great. Health insurance is about $300/mo for a large family. When my child was born we had a private room, epidural, and standard hospital stay. The final bill due from the hospital was $0, the OB/GYN was $30.

Cons

The upper-level management (the people that guide the corporation) seem to be completely detached from reality and willing to sacrifice market longevity for short term stock gains. PM's are expected to win their own work. Which is difficult to do while you are trying to get a project done or if you are a CAD operator and have nothing to do with marketing.

Pros

-Good compensation in terms of salary and benefits -Work on good projects -Office opportunities (almost) everywhere -Weathered bad economy relatively well -Career advancement is real

Cons

-In the office I worked in, workaholics dominated, especially in management (this may be the same everywhere). This resulted in great pressures exerted on staff to be workaholics too and keep up. The worst thing about AECOM (my office in particular! I want to emphasize this) was the lack of appreciation of a life outside of work. It was as if it didn't exist. -My heritage company was M&E. If QMS means anything to you, I need say no more. Bottom line: lots of internal paperwork for employees, and it's miserable. -I liked it better as M&E. I bet a lot of heritage employees do too. Who builds up a reputation and a name for 100 years only to throw it away? In meetings they told us it would save a lot of money in legal fees and stuff like that. The almighty bottom line. Of course, did salaries adjust for these savings?
