One of the Worst to work for

Pros

Competitors are hiring for the same position.

Cons

I could go on and on, but basically the worst thing about aecom is that we really work for accountants. Accountants are allowed to call your clients directly to demand payment. As a project manager, I've had this happen several times and it's very embarrassing. Next is the fact that you are less than a number. aecom will treat you like cattle in a pen, because that's what you are to them. New offices will not have walls higher than your hip. As an engineer/PM I need to be able to think, and instead Mike Burke thinks I need to hear someone 50 yards away burp. Way to go Mikey, I know you can't hear this from your private jet.

Big Waste of Career and Time

Pros

It's BIG. Really BIG. It makes itself A LOT of money. The win A LOT of work. They BUY A LOT of other companies.

Cons

Start off working for another firm that got bought by AECOM. AECOM whittle away our office. most of the very good people left and we were stuck with the mediocre to bad employees with mostly bad attitudes. The few good one that were left got "quit" if they cause any trouble. I agree with most of the BAD reviews on here. They tell the truth. You are a number to these people. If you don't rock the boat and sit at your desk and do little to nothing for a 8 hour day then you are JUST what AECOM is looking for to add bodies to the pile of proposals and projects that make their numbers look good. One day it will all crash down on them and I will applaud.

AECOM's best days are in the rear view mirror

Pros

The projects and the people are great. The global nature of the company provides a unique set of experiences for staff. For up and coming engineers, designers, and architects, there are great experiences to be had. Just don't plan to make it a long term career here. Budget cuts and layoffs are an annual way of life.

Cons

The CEO is an accountant and the newly named President is an accountant, but it's not an accounting firm. The bean counters are running one of the world's largest architecture and engineering firms, and they're doing it like... accountants. Since the new management team took control, diversity has gone out the window. Women in leaderships positions have been fired, forced to retire, or left voluntarily. Diversity on the new management team consists of white males who have hair and white males who are bald. Check out the website and you'll see. Google why Michael Burke left KPMG. The pay is generally below market. A lot of fear and intimidation.
