Pros

Some nice people and interesting projects from when the other companies existed.

Cons

- Heavily bureaucratic - Glass Ceiling - Cost cutting at every corner so you have to do everything - Perpetual state of emergency on projects since they only get the clients that no one wants - 100 billibility mandate is meant to keep you in your place. - Global company operated as a local one. People and office consistently bicker and fight. No cohesion whatsoever. DO NOT THINK THAT YOU WILL HAVE GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES. ITS A COMPLETE LIE.

Pros

A steady paycheck and decent health insurance in a down economy are the only major positive aspects of this job. Being at the lowest possible level of the organizational ladder also allows for leaving work at the door when going home for the day.

Cons

I could write a book and would still not have enough space to adequately express my dissatisfaction with nearly every facet of this job that does not involve drawing a regular paycheck. Employees are treated as numbers on productivity reports. We have no worth outside of increasing shareholder value, which has been directly stated as our prime directive in multiple meetings. Senior employees from multiple legacy organizations absorbed by AECOM sing the praises of how things used to be. New employees march as instructed until they're sufficiently indoctrinated, or they give up and quit within six months. Management has little or no direct knowledge of the functions they oversee. There is little room for the advancement of truly skilled and dedicated employees -- managers seem only to hire their friends (externally or internally). Career advancement is a myth for entry-level employees within the current structure.

Pros

Great place to work in general - I was given plenty of freedom. The benefits are very good. The opportunities are there - all over the planet. Young people should not be discouraged - you will be in demand and appreciated.

Cons

So large you are destined to be a small fish in an enormous ocean. Organization is ridiculously top heavy - vice presidents everywhere. Because of cutbacks that are currently quite a lot of people who are overextended and quite frankly there is no way that all the work can possibly be accomplished with such a lean staff. But hey, if you are politically saavy you can succeed in AECOM. Just watch out - once you hit a certain age - and salary level - your job will become expendable especially if you are overhead. Your best bet is to find a job chargeable position if you are not a politician. I worked at AECOM for 16 years and I watched year after year as older employees were let go time after time. Surprise! my number came up as well. One serious word of caution: don't think you will succeed here by merely good performance. I was given a glowing review and a raise only two months prior to being let go.
