Pros

My time at AGC Partners has been both rewarding and challenging from day one. The boutique nature of the firm meant interns were immediately given serious responsibility and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways from day one. Early projects were focused around generating thoughtful research pieces about the technology sector and the players involved, which allowed for us to develop a working knowledge of the current market factors in the technology space. As we became more comfortable with the ins and outs of banking the interns were then assigned to live deals and we worked alongside our analyst mentors to help project managers and partners with the deal process. Interns became true members of the team and were utilized every step of the way from initial pitch to final closing. Each member of the team was truly valued and everyone from partner to intern is valued for their contributions. Getting to work on live deals and play an important role in the process is something that the AGC program truly excels at. Weekly training sessions ensured that we were learning the most important tools a banker needs to be successful and included both industry specific skills such as SaaS revenue forecasting and more universal tools such as LBO modeling. Outside of the office, the team at AGC made sure to have some fun along the way with weekly team outings at various venues in Boston, an annual client regatta and party, a company softball game, and even opportunities to go to some Red Sox games. The company’s downtown location includes a gym/shower, game room, and is easily accessible from all parts of Boston. Overall working at AGC this summer has been an awesome experience. While the entire firm certainly works extremely hard and the hours require substantial commitment, the team based and fast paced nature of the firm ensure that there is never a dull moment and you become truly invested in producing the best work you are capable of. I recommend this internship to anyone looking for some true insight in the world of investment banking at a firm with a focus on an interesting and highly relevant sector.

Cons

Long hours come with the territory and require interns to fully commit to the experience.

Pros

Opportunity to travel and build out your network. As intense of a company that it is, it is still encouraged to let your hair down.

Cons

I personally enjoy working in a fast pace environment, but at times the motivational driver is fear rather than the pride of doing a good job.

Pros

As an intern at AGC, you are thrown into the mix right away, working alongside analysts on whitepapers and deals. The exposure to partners and the technology sectors they deal with is tremendous. AGC has a strong team atmosphere that makes coming into work a pleasure.

Cons

Long hours. The internship is what you make of it. Make sure you get involved with your mentor.
