Wonderful people with a tremendous depth of knowledge about and passion for the rail industry. Industry is booming right now and company growth is guaranteed for the next couple of years. You are allowed a great deal of autonomy, which is very nice.
Cons
Pay grade is slow to keep up with competitors and as a result, talent is leaving at an alarming rate. No "sick day" policy and small amounts of vacation. The majority of the company is nearing retirement age, and at times, policies can reflect an older point of view. (Not a progressive workplace)
Great location in the heart of St. Charles. Most people are very friendly and senior staff are mostly helpful. Managers allow time off for personal needs
Cons
In the past few years the company has changed drastically. The company is basically being run by short-sided financiers and by the board of directors. No thoughts as to the future of the company-- constantly neglecting good customers and ruining long-standing relationships. They are losing all talented workers to competitors because they are too slow to act, and too cheap to provide standard salaries & benefits packages. The highest level managers are disinterested in company objectives and unwilling to make any changes.
