Pros

I have worked here for almost two years, as an Academic and Test Prep Tutor. The working environment is some of the best I've experienced, and the company goes out of their way to demonstrate that they value you and your work. The mentoring practices are also quite edifying and have helped me develop my teaching. They were also quite prepared to take as much of their tutoring work online the week of quarantine and their attention to detail and research throughout the shelter-in-place and beyond creates an atmosphere of safety.

Cons

Tutoring work is paid at full wages, while necessary office work is about half or a bit more. Additionally, tutoring working hours most directly reflect client need, and student roster subject to slow transitions, seasonal ebbs and flows, and the Tutor's ability generate further client demand from existing clients.

Pros

- Flexibility: you get to make your own schedule - No micromanaging from leadership - Leadership is transparent - Company-sponsored social events at the end of semester for employees (pre-COVID): museums, wineries, etc. - Benefits for full-time employees: health & dental insurance, sick time, etc. - Pay is great - Coworkers are great - AJ offices are nice & have free snacks!

Cons

Not much; I'd have stayed at AJ if I wasn't going back to school! - Need to handle some of the administrative side (dealing with late cancellations, etc.) as a tutor, but the leadership is also there to help you through any tough situations. - The nature of the job pretty much requires you to work evenings and weekends.
