Pros

My experience with AJ Tutoring has been one of a kind. From the management team to the tutors, the people that make up this company are incredibly encouraging, welcoming, and provide substantial guidance throughout the entire experience. The onboarding experience helps to prepare you to feel ready to meet with your students and become an integral component to their education. The trainings, department and staff meetings are extremely organized and provide an immense amount of insight! The whole way through, with the guidance of your Team Leader and the whole team that surrounds you, you'll feel more than prepared, confident, and motivated to do your best!

Cons

Scheduling students can be difficult from time to time depending on the parents' schedules, so work may be hard to pick up initially. However, after the initial scheduling round and when students get scheduled in, your team leader and client services do an amazing job maintaining your schedule full!

Pros

Anyone who did well in math in school, graduated from college, and has excellent people skills could probably do a great job in this position. The company is growing and there is a lot of turnover, so there are many entry-level openings. There are now many locations throughout the area to choose from. The pay is very good per-billable-hour for an entry-level job. You set your own schedule (though you will often feel pressure to accommodate clients' schedules).

Cons

Not a lot of room for promotion or lateral movement. The high hourly wage conceals the large amount of unpaid prep and admin work.

Thanks for the positive feedback! We’re glad you found your time at AJ to generally be a good experience. We wanted to clarify that we do pay tutors for both prep time and admin work, and we ask tutors to accurately record their time spent doing those things. We also provide paid one-on-one training around how to be efficient with admin and prep time (since all of us would rather be tutoring than filling out paperwork). Thanks again for your thoughts!
