Pros

- Great Benefits - company paid medical/dental/vision - Good pay - raises come to those who earn them, if you do well, you will be recognized - Very stable, which is good for the market in Detroit, you don't have to worry about layoff in the paper plate industry - Great opportunity to get experience and learn a lot

Cons

- The environment is rough to work in, hot, fast paced, but this is manufacturing - You may have to work a lot of hours, and almost all employees are salary

Pros

Excellent health insurance coverage, fair salary, interesting line of work with potential to be far better than it's current status.

Cons

Salary/management personnel are tricked from the very get go of employment. Upper management believe that everybody in the company does not have a life outside of the company, making personnel work 6-7 days a week, not allowing for much personal time with family. Salary employees who are hired for managerial and operations positions are forced to take on roles that include that of painting, cleaning, labor and various other tasks that are supposed to be that of the maintenance and janitorial staff, all in the reasoning of avoiding having to pay overtime to hourly staff. Why are crew leaders and salaried employees painting, doing hi-lo maintenance, and other facility maintenance projects? This is why you have a maintenance and janitorial staff to begin with. Company is improperly ran and wastes money due to outdated or lack of technology. Whereas other manufacturing companies utilize the benefits of databases, scanners, and other equipment, AJM still relies on 1960's carbon paper usage and a billing software from the early 1990's, which would normally be used in a small, 2-3 person office, not in a company that has several facilities in 5 states. The owner is awful and treats his personnel more like slaves than people. Have paid witness to him blowing up on staff and berating them in front of other personnel. Not a very healthy and uplifting work environment.
