Pros

The wages and salary are very high, especially compared to other supermarket companies. All the staff I worked with were all good in teams, they seem quite picky with who they choose to work there. If you want to have certain days off in advance, it can be organised. Great place to be promoted, a lot of people (including myself) moved up very quickly with great reward.

Cons

Long hard hours. As few staff working in a store as possible - if you are in a quiet store, there could be only two other staff with you for the entire store. Even though you are told you have sick leave etc. It is near impossible to take, there will probably be no one to cover your shift and your manager will find ways to guilt you into coming in. Once the roster is set, your days off each week will change and most of the time you have no choice when you will be working. One problem I had at the four stores I worked at, was that it was common to be forced to work overtime and then the roster would be changed to make it look like you hadn't. The store managers were doing this because there was often a lack of people, and a lot of work to be done. The area managers were pushing for no overtime to be done at all - the area managers are graded by senior management on overtime hours as a cost they must push down.

Pros

Good pay and benefits for working class job. This is a great place to work if you have always been the employee that does most of the work while others putter around and do nothing but receive the same pay. The workload demands that everyone be active and working--there are no slackers, which is great. You will be busy, and time will usually go quickly.

Cons

Schedule is never steady, which is a company standard. In other words, you will never work only day shift or evening shift, or be off on Sunday. Managers are directed to vary the employee schedules. Aldi can consume your life, especially if you are a store manager. Depending on your manager, shift managers may also become overloaded and burn out.

Pros

You get a good paycheck compared to other retail establishments. If you like a fast paced environment and you are not afraid of hard work, you will succeed. Everything is run on a system so there typically isn't anyone breathing down your neck while you are working.

Cons

They will trap you in with the money and will try and work you to death. They are not flexible at all when it comes to taking breaks and to time off. Management will micromanage everything. Do not expect to have any sort of regular life outside of Aldi. You will always be working when you need time off.
