      Pros

      AMETEK is very decentralized, it is organized around about 50 Business Units that operate like independent small businesses. Each business gets to make its decisions as needed to drive their own growth with very little interference from the top. Minimal corporate structure. Not tied down by title or position, a true meritocracy. I've been here 30+ years and have not regretted it.

      Cons

      The independent Business Unit concept limits cooperation between the BU's. This isn't a major issue, but does slightly hamper some growth. But any loss of growth is overcome by the efficiency the BU concept brings to the business.
