Great Company, but Stuck in the Past

Pros

Great company culture, everyone was very friendly, upper management knew everyone by name, which is hard to come by in a large company such as AMLI. Great pay and benefits, paid time off, etc.

Cons

My only complaint is that the company seemed to be very stuck in the past when it came to several different areas. They weren't very open to hearing new suggestions or ideas and had the classic, "we do things this way because that's how we've always done them" mentality.

Pros

I love the way that AMLI addresses customer service in property management world. They also giving you additional training opportunities and ways to give back to your community through volunteer opportunities. I enjoy the staff I work with and I believe in the way that management is taking company in the future.

Cons

Sometimes I feel we are overworked but that is only in the summer season when it is always chaotic.

This Is A Team Effort

Pros

AMLI has a strong historical background with a company founder still very much involved. Much of our senior executive team and corporate support team members started on-site or have on-site experience -- the executive team understands what happens in the field (and they don’t lead by title, they lead via engagement). Hands-down the best education department and on-boarding process in the industry. Unlike many companies we have a fully-integrated corporate support structure which includes human resources, marketing, legal and risk services, accounting, revenue management, reporting and an amazing group of IT and system admin professionals. Your opinion matters and you get to be a part of the conversation. We are competitive in nature and collaborative in spirit. This is a structured environment, yet it is designed to implement change at a quick pace. We are a culture fully committed to each other and we work hard and have fun. We have a "Boomerang Club": We have so many team members return to AMLI after dipping their toe in another pond that we had to find a way to celebrate their reunion! We own our communities, and have developed many of them. We participate in our communities as stakeholders. The Austin 2Nd Street Retail District is a fine example of stakeholder collaboration. If you come into AMLI with previous industry experience you will immediately notice that we are different. If you come into AMLI without experience, you will immediately notice that we take an interest in helping you discover and use the many tools and resources that we have developed. I feel that we take an ethical approach to our business decisions, and we consider people first. I am a 7+ year team member with a combined 14 years of experience in the multifamily industry. I fell in love with the first company I worked for but had to part ways due to a sale in my region. I did not think another company could compare to my experience, but I am happy that I was wrong.

Cons

I can't really think of any cons -- I really love this culture and the people I work with. Although we are growing, there could still be limited opportunities for promotions -- but never limited opportunities for growth. This is something to consider and to be comfortable with before committing to the company.
