A dumpster fire

Pros

Healthcare at the base level is completely covered, access to LinkedIn learning.

Cons

Poor management, misaligned priorities and constant layoffs mixed with poor handling of technology, security measures and lack of planning for day to day efficiency. It really felt like everything was always so reactive, management did not take into account (nor did they try to even understand) how things operate before barking deliverables. The company I started with is NOT the same company at the end. The values do not align with how people are treated and made to feel about their efforts.

Pros

Coworkers and direct leadership were great people.

Cons

I used to want to spend the rest of my career at this company but since Cary Grace took over, it appears AMN has completely lost sight of the “core values” they claim hold. Upper management is out of touch and team members are beyond burnt out. To put it into perspective, I have outlined the company’s “core values” below and how they are failing at every single one of them: - Respect: they have capped commissions in some departments which has killed any incentive to perform at the highest level. They lay off our coworkers and expect us to do triple the work for below average market pay. Every competitor pays higher than AMN. Passion - No one has any incentive to go above and beyond because they are micromanaged and the pay is too low for anyone to live comfortably. Most of my coworkers have second jobs in order to get by. Morale is in the toilet after taking away Christmas gifts, raises, and even changing booking bonus amounts AFTER announcing winners for the contest. I used to feel passionate about helping clinicians find amazing assignments but honestly now I’m scared to even book them because I know I can’t provide them with a great assignment due to the low pay we offer, the extremely frustrating credentialing process, and the constant payroll issues I know they will encounter. Continuous improvement - Everything is moving overseas credentialing and payroll wise. Travelers are having trouble starting on time and then when they are on assignment they are having issues with getting paid properly. If you express any kind of concern about these issues they are dismissed as “growing pains,” no one actually helps solve the problems and ultimately you lose business. Customer Focus: To some recruiters the customer is the facility, to others the customer is the nurse. Either way, the customer is losing. With credentialing moving overseas both the facilities and the clinicians suffer due to credentialing delays causing postponements and sometimes even cancellations. Nurses don’t want to deal with it and facilities will eventually go with other agencies that can actually get clinicians to start on time. Innovation - Where do I even start with this one… Currently, AMN is making every change they possibly can all at once and NONE of the changes are going smoothly. They have recruiters working off of a half completed website. They changed credentialing’s vendor management system, changed the VPN we all operate off of, AND they decided to consolidate all of the brands into OneAMN. It is an absolute mad house and once again, everyone is suffering from it. Along with the low pay we offer our clinicians, they also have to fight to start their assignments as well. The meals and incidentals structure is not competitive amongst other agencies so booking with AMN is just not worth the hassle. I could honestly keep going but I think I’ve said enough. These are just some of the reasons nurse recruitment is struggling. Help your employees by finding ways to remedy these issues and pay them what they are worth.

Pros

Initially when I first began with AMN, it was a very inclusive organization with lots of promise.

Cons

In my 6 years of service, it has become a challenge to work here. Leadership is not focused and people in power are not qualified to be.
