Cons

Overall poor moral; high EMT turnover; little to no patient care as an EMT unless (rarely) put on BLS truck; unprofessional employees; can be hard with bad partner

Pros

We have good equipment and get paid at a higher rate than smaller private EMS agencies. AMR isn't perfect, but no company is. On the whole, I'm satisfied here.

Cons

If you work for a smaller division, the ambulances/equipment is not going to be as nice as in the larger divisions.

Pros

Free continuing education. Diverse work environments. some opportunities for advancement. Overtime opportunities. Living in a great city. Box style ambulances provide more room to work. No inter-facility transports for paramedics.

Cons

The pay does not even come close to supporting the cost of living. Poor top down communication from management. Weak union. Dated equipment and old worn down ambulances in some districts. Some FDs have a culture of disrespect for ambulance personnel. Poor employee retention.
