Pros

AMR is a great place to gain experience for newly licensed EMT's or as a part time for extra money, it is a commercial transport company so don't expect many emergent or trauma patients. All and all, AMR is a great stepping stone position for anyone in the medical field.

Cons

AMR has a relatively low pay rate, shifts are usually past ending time (that's common in commercial ambulatory organizations, there was some disorganization with my initial hire; however that was sorted out.

Pros

It is just like any other 911 ems job but in a busy system. Topeka fire is great to run medical calls with and we have some nice trucks.

Cons

It's a very high cal volume with a full time crew member running about 1500 calls a year.
