Thanks or the honest review. I'm happy that you recognize the strong safety and values of the company. I also agree that communications can become spotty when you have 300 people trying to get a lot of work done. We're always trying to get better. As for the bonus, you're correct that monetary bonusing kicks in during your 2nd year, however we still handout $200-300 in "bling" at the year-end to 1st year employees. This usually includes backpacks, jackets, etc. We delay bonusing because most workers are still in the process of getting trained for their jobs in year 1. Year 2 is where they begin to shine.

Great place to get experience and grow

Pros

Managers are very helpful when asked questions. They all tend to want to help resolve issues or problems that arise. Upper management puts a big emphasis on team values (leadership, positive attitude, etc.) which usually weeds out any negative or unwanted personnel. Good pay. Overtime and Saturday work. Employees are given lots of responsibility as opposed to bigger companies where there's a lot of bureaucracy and forms that employees have to jump through to get anything done.

Cons

While it's clear the company is interested in continuous improvement, sometimes it takes a while to get process/policy changes effected fully. I'm sure it takes much longer at other companies, but I wanted to provide one piece of feedback.

Thanks for the nice comments and your concerns about the changes. I do agree that changes and the implementation of those changes can be a pain-point at ASC. We'll try to get these worked through the system quicker.

Pros

its easy to get things done when you are yes man. you can get promoted quickly if you dont ask questions and blindly follow the orders. and you get good raises when you pretend to smile and look happy in front of management when they breath down your neck.

Cons

They pay unfairly and way under industry average. i took the job because i needed insurance at that time and realized it. We get paid unfairly, get mistreated and you get in their christmas list based on howmany times you throw your peers under the bus. i heard that they have a secret reward program for rats. Secretly throw someone under the bus and you get rewarded, it's just not a healthy environment for normal people.

As with another very similar review, I believe you are not in fact an engineer, and are instead a shop employee faking the review to attempt to lash out at ASC. It's difficult to stop trolls on Glassdoor, but I'll continue to comment even though the review seems disingenuous. As for your pros: ASC rewards employees with good values and good work ethic. We have high expectations of our employees and want all employees to have a positive attitude toward work, toward their peers, and toward the company. No one likes to work with negative people, so we try our best to either fix the negativity or remove negative influences before they infect the workplace. As for your Cons: your data is incorrect. We pay above industry averages for our business size. We aren't the highest payers in the industry, but we pay enough to have a strong team of loyal and happy employees. You mention a "secret reward system". Hilarious. Our award systems are not secrets. 1. we give out are when employees go out of their way to be safe or get involved in the safety of their coworkers. These are offered because we want to incentivize employees to care for each other and keep each other safe. 2. We give gift cards for birthdays. 3. we give gifts for new babies 4. we give generous gifts at Christmas to all employees. No secrets - just a generous family-oriented business. I suggest that you try to think more positively of your position, the people you work with, your work efforts, and the company. If you can't bring yourself to do that, then I think it's time for you to leave ASC so that you can find a company that meets your expectations. Thanks for the review.

Pros

Working at ASC is a great opportunity right after college to gain some good, real world engineering experience. The opportunity here has helped me acquire new opportunities and provided me skills to put me a cut above the rest of the competition. The engineers and floor workers are kind and easy to get along with, and plenty of opportunities for team building such as picnics, friday lunches, etc. Being able to be both a project manager and an engineer provided invaluable experience not only towards my resume but when applying for other positions. The engineering mentors really help you hone in the engineering process and the correct steps to take when working on a project here to successfully complete it.

Cons

1. Although its great experience being both a PM and engineer, the job is very stressful and you will feel overworked. It is a lot of responsibility to take on both roles and would ideally be better being broken up into two. 2. If you do anything, whether work related or not, and it does not follow the personal beliefs of the company, they will continuously look into your social media platforms, including recruiting social media platforms, to see if you are applying for new jobs. 3. HR and management will question you anytime you update your recruitment social media and creates a toxic work environment where you will fear retaliation anytime you want to update your job searching social media platforms. 4. Their HR team prey on younger, inexperienced workforce who do not know laws and regulations and will make/change rules on the fly to take advantage of their employees.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate much of what you say, but I do have some disagreements. Thanks for the Pros. I agree that you'll never find a better early-career resume booster than from ASC, especially as a mechanical engineer. You'll learn tons of stuff and gain very good skill at design, analysis, project management, resource planning, and lots of other stuff. As for the Cons, I agree with your first point, however for points 2-4, I feel you're seeing this incorrectly. Let me explain. 2. ASC tries to build strong values in our employees, especially the young people who join our team. We want to teach our employees to communicate properly, care about each other, and offer help when it's needed. We are looking to foster leadership. When engineers fail to live up these values, we try to speak with them a correct them. This is how you create a great company with great people. 2/3. Social media. Our managers and HR teams are trained to recognize when employees ight be having a difficult time at work, or are unhappy with their job. To gain this understanding, we regularly talk to employees, and we also check whether employees are "looking for another job". So, you are correct that we regularly look to recruiting sites to see who might be looking, and then use that knowledge to find out what we're doing wrong and what we might be able to do to keep them. The goal is always to keep our employees - not to let them go. We do not check Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or any similar social media. We only check Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Glassdoor, and similar recruiting sites. 4. This is untrue. We do not prey on anyone, including younger employees. Actually, our new younger employees get a higher level of attention and frequency of raises and promotions than those who have been here longer. However, I will say that we don't treat young employees as children. We treat them as professional adjusts and have expectations that they will work as professional adults. This can be jarring to some younger engineers who are not familiar with being given firm expectations and then having to meet those expectations. In my view, each engineer who works or ASC is a High Achievement Star and we that's how we treat them. Anyway, thanks again for the review. I hope you find the type of job that makes you happy.

Pros

Decent starter job for controls engineer

Cons

Management will very rarely have your back as the dollar sign is gods word. Field work sounds exciting at first but will ship you out on back to back multi-month jobs without breaks. There are snakes in the other departments that will try to bring you down to bring themselves up. Benefits arent great either and judge you for taking sick days and vacation time.

Pros

I had to write this review because there are few companies that prioritize not only productivity but the well-being of their employees and their families. ASC is family and ASC embodies that small company feel despite the tremendous growth we have experienced. ASC offers the best in their class product with high standards, but also emphasizes that work-life balance matters. During my 10-year journey with my beloved ASC I have grown professionally as well as personally. I have become a better person because of what ASC instills in not only their leadership team, but what the owners also demonstrate by their actions. It has been clear to me from day one that ASC champions a family-oriented culture. The welcoming atmosphere ASC provides for all their employees regardless of their abilities is by far not seen in many companies today. Everyone is valued and their families are also valued. I can say firsthand that time and time again ASC has helped me through some dark times. They do so quietly without making a big hoopla about it, and they do it for the simple reason that they care about me and my family. I have been truly blessed to be with ASC as I have been through many industries, many companies, many owners, and by far ASC is unlike no other. The genuine kindness that ASC provides to their employees makes our work environment feel like a second home. ASC celebrates the anniversary milestones, birthdays, and achievements of each person with pride. This family spirit cultivates strong relationships and support, making it a truly unique place to work. The management team at ASC stands out for their commitment to employee welfare. There are hiccups and no one company is perfect, but they truly do their best to coach and mentor the team, all to make ASC an even better place to work. ASC emphasizes safety and continually makes sure that it is a priority. I have worked at companies that don’t have that and to me it says a lot about how important their employees are. The company invests in its employees by providing training and opportunities to grow within the company. The open-door policy practiced by management represents transparency and trust. The ability to have an open-door policy allows employees to feel heard and respected, something you can’t really find in other companies. There is diversity and inclusivity at ASC which truly makes it a great place to work. They actively strive to create a workplace where everyone feels welcome, regardless of background or experience. This commitment makes our team stronger by accepting and valuing everyone on our team. The ludicrous comments about how ASC does not value family or each person is beyond my comprehension. There are many others who express the same sentiment as me that ASC is a one-of-a-kind company who cares and appreciates every one of their employees. We at ASC are family and I personally cannot express the gratitude that I have for being a part of such an amazing company. My hopes are to retire from ASC and continue to bring my best to a company that values me. my coworkers, as well as each and everyone of our family members.

Cons

None at that I can think of.

Thanks for your honest review. I appreciate your Pros and your Cons. You're correct that we tend to change lots of things based on our Continuous Improvement philosophy. This can certainly feel like you're being fed from a fire hose. However, I can tell you and others that when we implement new "things", we certainly try to gage how it will affect the engineers and their workload. Hopefully we get better at that in the future. Good luck in your career.

Pros

- smaller company so it's easy to reach a manager/mentor when help is needed - office employees and shop welders/fabricators are friendly

Cons

- overtime is very common in order to make deadlines for drawing submissions - juggling design and project management for multiple projects gets exhausting and burns out a lot of the MEs - CEO has no filter and will tell you how it is if a project isn't doing well - having a good mentor is crucial for the first couple of projects so if you were assigned to a busy/inattentive mentor then you'll have a rough time

Thanks for your honest review. I appreciate it. Your Pros and Cons make sense and are common at ASC. Yes, we do have lots of work, so our engineers typically work at least 9 hrs per day Mon through Fri. However, on the plus side, although our engineers are salaried exempt employees at ASC, we do pay extra for any work that would happen on weekends. Fortunately, weekend work is quite rare. As for me the CEO - yes, I have always believed in open, direct, and transparent conversations with all ASC employees. I respect you as adults and feel that we should speak honestly. That being said, I do understand that many younger engineers have a difficulty hearing direct feedback, especially coming from engineering schools who teach the "everyone is a winner" philosophy. If you work at ASC, you will be given amazing projects and expected to do amazing things, but with that comes the risk of screwing things up. You won't get fired for the screwups, but you will know that it happened. Remember that you learn much more from the screwups than from the successes in your career. Working at ASC will give you the resilience in your future career. Good luck in your future.
