      The reality of working at ASM

      Pros

      As a semiconductor company, ASM is growing rapidly both in size and technology. There are no shortage of challenges or opportunities for growth.

      Cons

      My positions requires me to work with many different teams across ASM, as a result provides me with insight into a lot of different areas. There is absolutely no work/life balance. The level of expectation is borderline inhumane, even for top performers. Inside politics play a significant role in challenges you will face internally. Due to these reasons, opportunity is there but often unobtainable.

      Pros

      There are a lot of good people at ASM. I enjoyed working with my colleagues.

      Cons

      For a company involved in the semiconductor industry, it sure is backward. Antiquated software, systems, and workflows with no change in site. Rather than embracing the technology changes that would bring ASM into present day, the new CEO took an even bigger step backward when he took away all remote work options. Remote employees were all laid off in the name of progress because he wants to build a giant new office building that looks impressive and needs people to sit there in order to justify it.
