Takes awhile to get the hours you want. Hard to move up in internal positions. Need more time to do other things besides phone calls. Some coworkers are very judgemental and just ignore the new employees when they need help.

some challenges working there? well for one they barely listen to staff whenever staff (a.c.t’s and/ or match makers to be exact) strongly believes, complain and even write letters/ or messages on for why an animal shouldn’t be euthanized. those who work the MOST hands on with the animals have no say for the animal’s future. theres been countless times of staff leaving work bawling their eyes out due to UNJUSTIFIED reasons for why their favorite dog or cat were put down. half the time the animals were put down were b-s reasons to be quite honest. they make it difficult for you to move on up career wise within the organization. you are disposable to them. and those whom dont feel like they’re treated as disposable, have favoritism from the “higher ups”. you dont hear about A LOT that goes on within the ASPCA because they try their hardest for the media to see only positivity. but sure, its a fun place to work at if you’d give up your sanity to play with puppies and kittens.
