So much lip service

Pros

Working with animals in need is great, as are my teammates.

Cons

Management does not seem to understand the basics of employee retention. Staff is overworked and pretty much always asked "what have you done for me lately". Trying to have a work/life balance is nearly impossible. Management provides no support to the day shifts and somehow manages to do even less for the overnight staff. They give lip service to a core values and ask for employees to embody it, but the management and CEO do everything that goes against it. The high turnover rate results in lots of forced overtime because they can't seem to create an environment that people want to stay at, so they get their experience and then move to a less stress-filled job. This creates gaps that the rest of the staff has to fill, which burns them out and makes them leave, continuing the cycle.
