Pros

Competative salary, good benefits. Company utilizes state of the art technology. Great opportunities for women and minorities

Cons

Due to a rash of takeovers the company having many growing pains. They have an inability to address even the most basic problems in a timely and efficient manner. Many upper managers use fear and threats to motivate. Metrics, metrics, useless metrics!! Company spends too much time collecting data on nonsense, instead of gathering and measuring data that really matters. Upper management if out of touch with what really happens on the front lines.

Pros

The more you screw up, the less you'll have to do...up to a point, of course... Keep a low profile & you should be able to ride out your job till you're surplussed - be cool when dealing with other areas & help them out when you can & you'll be able to move to another group when they cut your job.

Cons

As far as I can tell, it's just a little worse than the other telcom's - benefits SUCK (if you're management, the union seems to be looking out for its people); people who do their job very well end up getting stuck in it because they can't afford to move someone competent into management; "raises" come in just under the rate of inflation - no matter if you excel or not - managers try to keep compensation even across their employees; most job training consists of some web pages you click through just to get your "certification."
