Pros

Easy to get a job. Flexible hours

Cons

Poor management. No training program. You have to carry your own laptop to work, I had to call to tech support every second day because I could not get to my profile or email. You have to pay for everything (only your licenses can be reimbursed) . One more time ---poor unprofessional management.

Pros

The hours are very flexible. They will pay (reimburse) you for getting your Series 7, and 66. They will train you to sell financial securities. The group I worked for was very professional.

Cons

They want you to sell house product, ie insurance and annuities. Your manager will take a cut of your commissions when out on appointments with you. There is a relatively high turnover rate. This is a commission only position.

Pros

I will preface that experiences will vary greatly department to department. In my area, I'm granted a lot of leeway, and not overly micromanaged. While corporate politics exist everywhere, the overall environment where I work is quite good. Benefits provided by the company are quite good, 401k contribution (automatic not just a match), stock purchase plans, good healthcare.

Cons

Pay is not the best, HR is the tail that wags the dog and often times stifles management and makes it hard to retain talent. If you're in the beginning of your career (less than 10 years), you will likely have to leave to get your pay to where it should.
