Pros

Absolutely none, unless you consider a £23k base salary as a good one.

Cons

You are sold the job as being 'basically self employed', when in reality you are chained to your desk, allowed a measly 15 minute break time on either side of lunch (at a time chosen by them, not yourself), told off for talking to colleagues, not allowed to eat anything at your desk, expected to make over 100 calls a day and to constantly be dialling dead leads. Regional managers have egos so big that I am genuinely embarrassed for them. I once had a meeting with one after taking my break 5 minutes earlier than I was supposed too as I was stressed from a conversation with a client. He told me that 'You need to show me more respect, because otherwise one of us will be going and it definitely will not be me'. This is just one tiny example of many encounters similar to this, including being bought into meetings and apprehended about situations that happened outside of work with colleagues, which had nothing to do with the job. Very sexist atmosphere, in a team of about 25 people at this point I was one of only 2 females. A grown up man, with an ego this big, talking down to a young female like this pretty much sums up my experience of this company. I am very happy to be working in a completely different line of work where I am treated with complete respect and equality, given as much freedom as I could ever want, and have been able to thrive intellectually and emotionally.

Pros

Having done lots of research on AXA UK before joining, I was a little sceptical as to whether all the positive things I saw across social media and their careers website would actually be true. Well 5 months in, it has exceeded my expectations and I can honestly say it’s an incredible organisation. Passionate about developing people and creating a truly inclusive workplace there really is something for everyone. There is significant change happening at present (which is needed) but the support on offer to help people cope with change is like nothing I have experienced elsewhere. Many people have either worked here for a number of years, or returned which is always a great sign.

Cons

The cons (poor systems, complex structures and outdated offices) are all being dealt with - see my comment above re significant change.
