Pros

The pay/benefits package is good for the tech industry. Company is smart about M&A deals. Stays ahead of the competitors.

Cons

I left Abbott Diabetes Care after several years because a person in my department made my employment there unbearable. She was technically incompetent and routinely slept with coworkers and managers. No one will say a word about it. My job basically became to cover her mistakes after her promotion so eventually I left to work for a competitor.

Pros

- Great company to work for in terms of benefits, and opportunities for growth. - If you're looking for obtaining experience in multiple different types of tests and/or lab quality departments, they encourage cross-training. - Generally good management, but they are worked pretty hard

Cons

- Very much dependent on the lab, but there is an unspoken encouragement to work weekends or overtime to complete testing - Can be difficult to transition out of the lab setting, but might just take longer. - Environment is highly corporate, as one would expect, but that results in a very bureaucratic system and political atmosphere. - Depends on lab, but they often avoid hiring new people and instead bring back people from other departments to do the same tests

Pros

Pay is okay. Health insurance is free with high deductible.

Cons

Major disconnect from upper management and what happens within the plant. Work here if you enjoy working overtime and fixing other people's mistakes. A lot near misses on an annual basis on the production floor. Sometimes can go months on end with open management roles. High turnover rate in multiple departments.
