Pros

I have worked with Abell Pest Control for 17 years. My original plan was to work with the company for a year then go back to school. One year turned in to 2 years and here I am moved up from a service technician into a management position. Abell offers competitive Salaries in the industry, at the top. They offer a great bonus and incentive structure where anyone in the company can make a great living. You have the freedom to run your own service route and in some sense of the word be your own boss. I have friends that have become employee's and recommend to anyone to join. Abell provides employee's with extensive benefits and RSP matching plan. Most important Abell provides a platform to have opportunities to move up into management as i have been blessed with. I never saw myself becoming a manager as i loved being out in the field working but with my hard work i was rewarded with a position after applying. Abell also rewards all employee's who exceed there set goals and quota's with Presidents Club - look on youtube!

Cons

This is not a 9-5 job. As a technician you have the opportunity to create your own 8 hour working days. Sometimes may have to work over time on after hours job but the over time pay always comes in handy. The more work and sales you do the more money you make - i took full advantage of this.

Pros

I've been with Abell for just over seven years now and still enjoy coming to work. I left a secure job where I had seniority( 20 yrs) but was getting bored. Can honestly say that I had never considered a career in pest control. All jobs have a less glamorous side. The work at Abell can certainly be challenging yet we are well trained and equipped to handle any kind of situation. I have two daughters, I changed diapers and cleaned up all sorts of messes when they were younger so there is nothing in the Abell work environment that I've not come across before! They are very proactive in looking at the best ways to do the job, pay fairly and always make sure you have the best equipment. I started as a Technician and am now a Br Manager. For me, it's been a good move.

Cons

Can be long hours. The base salary is decent, the sales incentives though are very good and allow you to build a very good income. You are expected to bring in new business. You have to be comfortable working with a great deal of personal responsibility, it's really up to you how you run your day. You MUST be well organized. Paperwork and accurate reporting are important.

Pros

-Much autonomy on the job. Do the work assigned as you've been trained to and management will allow you great autonomy and flexibility. -Management that actually cares. Whether its family issues or health problems management has been extremely helpful and caring. -Fair compensation. Work hard, get paid very well. There is a bus season and a slow season as with many industries. "Make hay while the sun shines" and you'll do great!

Cons

-Sometimes a very busy schedule. If you're prepared for it mentally not much of an issue but pest control is a seasonal business by and large. This means you will have a very busy summer but slower winter. More time with the family!
