Pros

Creative workplace architecture and employees are kind.

Cons

Management can sometimes be so focused on the "Customer is always right" mentality that they come across as representing their employees as either incompetent or incapable of helping the customer. This occurs during various customer complaint resolutions when managerial approval is needed to appease the customer.

Customer Service is our bread and butter, it is what has kept us growing for the past 86 years. The customer is right 99.9% of the time. We empower all of our staff to make decisions based on our motto “The answer is always YES to any reasonable request” Therefore we expect extra effort from our customer service team and encourage them to go the extra mile. Of course mistakes will be made but we take those experiences and use them as teaching moments.

Pros

They hired me quick. I was looking for something between my internship and my graduation, for an unknown time period(was only a few weeks thankfully). Orientation went well (great job Nicki), but that's when I started seeing issues. Schedule was flexible, Mavriganis made it very easy to come and go as I pleased.

Cons

"we're a family run company" was the most popular answer there. This place would be 5 stars if you were part of the family and got to act the way the family does, but to move up you would have to really start sucking up. The justification for a lot of things was "because the Abts say so" instead of a logical approach "You can't ask who is calling because the Abts think it's rude" ........let's just play 100 questions instead of trimming the fat and getting right to the point.

We appreciate the feedback. Our core commitment to customers and rewarding hard-working employees has remained the same since we were a small storefront and we believe that is what has led to our continued growth over the last 86 years. Bob Abt made the decision to not screen calls many years ago for the simple reason that no matter who is calling, every customer is important. What we value is not sucking up, but rather, hard work. Promoting exemplary employees is common and nearly all of our managers and supervisors began in entry-level positions. We hope you enjoy the sweaters as they are quite comfortable!

Pros

Easy to do job. Keeps you in shape. Competitive pay.

Cons

Your so called bonus is always taken away. Managers only care about their ego. No communications between shifts. Unrealistic expectations.

Many of our coworkers are in college and we consistently work on their schedules to accommodate a fair work life balance for both parties. We have numerous coworkers that have worked their way up after graduating and are in prominent positions within the store. We do however expect to be first priority, there is a commitment & responsibility made when taking a job and this experience should serve as a life lesson for you. We recognize hard work and reward it. Our long-term employee record speaks for itself. You mention “unrealistic expectations” It seems our definitions of expectations are incomparable and we were clearly not a good fit for you.
