Coming from teaching within a public school district here in Arizona for the past 9 years, I wish I'd made this switch years ago. We are a new school, so we are making adjustments and it has been a lot of work for those who started the year here. However, the staff at AMSPA is un-beatable! It has been a long time since I've worked within a school that is this passionate and dedicated to its students. The comradery and kindness on this campus is second to NONE.

Cons

Besides the effort, sweat and patience that goes into building a new school - I do not have a "con."

I really can’t think of any pros other than the kids are sweet

Cons

Disorganized, no sense of direction, terrible leadership, sketchy admin, there are literally so many cons to working here. They expect way too much out of their teachers. Some teachers teach a full 8 periods with no prep period. It’s pretty exhausting and messed up.

Pros

It is not easy working at this school. It requires a lot of time and energy to work there. If you are teaching there for the first time it can be even harder, because you have to prove your students will grow. Your students will make everyday worth going in.

Cons

You will be required to do way more paperwork then you have ever thought about doing as a a teacher. Reteach plans that mean nothing to you because a report can be printed out with the same information. I am very data driven but in my own way. My teaching and everything else is micromanaged to the point of making you teach and be like a robot.
