      Academy offers more than most bus companies. They really take pride in their facilities, equipment and employees. If you work hard, you can make it at Academy

      Pros

      1) The buses are pretty decent and the mechanics take care of mechanical issues pretty quickly. 2) Split shift, depending on how you look at it.... Generally speaking, you'll have a split commuter shift (early morning and afternoon run)...So if you have things to do then you'll get a few hours in the middle of the day to take care of them,.. or you can use the time to take a nap. 3) You're the captain of your own ship - Once you leave the yard, you're pretty much in control of things, as long as you drive safely and don't deviate too far off course.

      Cons

      1) Low/Average Pay (about $19/hr for charter trips and roughly $78 per commuter run. Most people do two runs a day; a few drivers do three runs per day.). 2) No room for advancement or career growth. 3) Things were hectic and frustrating when I first started, due to the disorganization. I don't know if things got better or if I just got use to it. 4) Split shift, depending on how you look at it.... If you live close then it wouldn't be that bad of a commute but it's kind of difficult when you get dressed and come back to work after already having woken up early and got dressed and went in. If you don't live close then TRY to talk to dispatch about switching up your schedule so you can have a short break between your runs; If you can't, then be prepared to spend your breaks in your car or spending money somewhere in the area.
